Cemetery ( Graveyard ) Tours in Istanbul

Cemeteries in Turkish cities were originally made on the outskirts of the cities, so that as cities expanded, the grave yards became part of the inner city landscape. Some ancient cities are thought of as necropolis, having streets of tombs, though much has been destroyed by time and the progress of people. The head stones are mostly arabic - many have a shell or flower shape on top for a female burial - while a turban or fez shape is for male.

Idea : Our staff will first meet you in our art gallery or in our meeting point and first gives you general information of istanbul, cemetaries and religious procedures and ceremonies in Turkey, then by walking or using public transportation we will take you to the Ottoman cemeteries and the Sultan Tombs around Sultanahmet and Beyazit area. After that we went to one of the biggest and historical cemetery in the Eyup area to see the local Tombs in Eyup, Golden Horn. Tours run everyday.

The Life and Spiritual Milieu of Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi

In the last decades of the Twentieth Century the spiritual influence of Mevlâna Jalâluddîn Rumi is being strongly felt by people of diverse beliefs throughout the Western world.

He is being recognized here in the West, as he has been for seven centuries in the Middle East and Western Asia, as one of the greatest literary and spiritual figures of all time. Different qualities of Rumi have been brought forth by a variety of new translations that have appeared during the nineteen-eighties.

He has been presented as both refined and sensual, sober and ecstatic, deeply serious and extremely funny, rarefied and accessible. It is a sign of his profound universality that he has been so many things to so many people.
