Istanbul to host UEFA Super Cup match in 2019
Turkey’s Istanbul will host UEFA Super Cup match in 2019, UEFA announced on Wednesday.
Besiktas home stadium Vodafone Park will host the match, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin announced on Wednesday in a news conference at the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
The Vodafone Park was renovated and reopened in April 2016 with a capacity of about 43,000 spectators.
Estadio Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid, Spain will host UEFA Champions League Final in 2019.
UEFA Europe League Final in 2019 will be played in Olympic Stadium in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Turkey’s Olympic Stadium in Istanbul had hosted 2005 UEFA Champions League Final, while Sukru Saracoglu Stadium in Istanbul had hosted 2009 UEFA Cup Final.
the 2019 UEFA Super Cup will be played at Beşiktaş Park in Istanbul on Wednesday 14 August as the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League winners go head to head again. Kick-off will be 21:00CET (22:00 local time).
The match will be the first in this competition played in Turkey, though Istanbul has previously welcomed the UEFA Champions League final (2005, Atatürk Olympic Stadium) and UEFA Cup final (2009, Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium). The home of Beşiktaş opened on 11 April 2016.
