About the teacher: Karen-Claire Voss is Adjunct Professor of Humanities at San Jose State University where she taught for five years. After doing doctoral research in France for two years, she came to Istanbul in 1994. She has taught classes in literature and philosophy at Boğaziçi University, and classes in English at various private schools in Istanbul. Now an independent scholar, she is a sometime speaker at academic conferences in Europe, the author of numerous articles on topics ranging from imagination and mysticism to philosophy of education, and writes the monthly column, Istanbul?
